WHAT’S YOUR PLAN?

So here we are at the last step to regain some sense of our true nature—a chance to rejoin the living. This is by no means the “last” step, we need to take on this journey called life but these 5 steps: making a decision, expanding our awareness, taking full responsibility, controlling your thoughts and making a plan are great starting points toward living a more fulfilled life here on earth instead of wandering through life aimlessly with no purpose.

How do we consistently make decisions that will move our life in the right direction, expand our awareness, take full responsibility, and control our thoughts? We need a plan. I know it sounds cliché but it’s the truth. I think the reason why we don’t write out our plans is because they never go smoothly and for a lot of us when plans don’t work out the way we thought they would we get discouraged.

According to Merriam-Webster: plan – a set of actions that have been thought of as a way to do or achieve something. So although we make plans, we should never get caught up in the exactness of them because that’s not their purpose—to play out exactly as we’ve written them. Writing down your goals and plans is meant to be a guide; a guide that you will always have to reassess and adjust as you move closer to your goal. Having a plan gives you clarity about the steps you need to take to consistently stay on track—and that goes for anything you want to accomplish in life. When you have a plan in place you don’t have to wonder, “what’s my next step?” Because you have a plan in place that gives you more control over the process instead of just hoping for the best. A plan gives you that extra motivation to follow through on those days when you just “don’t feel like it.”

There’s not much more I can say about the importance of planning, it’s just one of those actionable things you must put in place if you ever want to achieve anything significant in life, so I’ll leave you with some quotes that I hope will emphasize the importance of writing down your plans as well as inspire you to action.

“Setting a goal is not the main thing. It is deciding how you will go about achieving it and staying with that plan.” ~Tom Landry

“It’s not the plan that is important, it’s the planning.” ~ Graeme Edwards

“Reduce your plan to writing. The moment you complete this, you will have definitely given concrete form to the intangible desire. ~Napoleon Hill

“Plan your work for today and every day, then work your plan.” ~Norman Vincent Peale

“Plans are nothing; planning is everything.” ~ Dwight D. Eisenhower

“It takes as much energy to wish as it does to plan.” ~Eleanor Roosevelt

“Before beginning, plan carefully.” ~Marcus T. Cicero
